Dream ride to Cape, but a nightmare driving home

The new $60 million flyover, which erased the hated rotary at the base of the Sagamore Bridge, smoothed Cape-bound travel on Friday and Saturday. But drivers returning from the Cape Monday found themselves in a worse-than-usual traffic nightmare, with backups that stretched as far as 17 miles to Yarmouth at midafternoon.

To avoid a repeat this summer, state transportation officials said yesterday they plan to install electronic signs urging vacationers to stagger their departure from the Cape as well as their arrival. Officials said they will also look at possible changes to the roadways around Exit 1, where Route 6A merges into Route 6 at the base of the bridge.

The merge is on the other side of the bridge from the flyover, the two-year project completed in October that replaced the roundabout at the intersection of Routes 3 and 6, which traditionally tied up Cape-bound traffic...

Joe Arpaio and Andrew Thomas are teaching the rest of the nation how ...

On a cool, clear Friday night in early February, about a hundred people are packed into the Casa Blanca Lounge on Van Buren Street in downtown Phoenix. Many of them have come for "communion" with local punk/thrash quartet NunZilla. But the "nuns" here aren't anything like the ones who rapped your knuckles with rulers in Catholic school, and this communion is more like an anarchistic tent revival. .

Affiliate Marketing Has A Gaping Space

An entire segment of the economy would do well to take a look at performance marketing, according to E-consultancy. Business to consumer relationships through affiliate marketing have been beneficial to both sides. Consumers find connections to businesses through affiliates, while the business has a risk-free nature of gaining a measurable connection.

Linus Gregoriadis of E-consultancy said the business to business segment hasn't participated in performance marketing in the same way. He cited the nature associated with business processes and purchasing as being a hindrance.

That doesn't have to leave business to business endeavors out in the cold when it comes to affiliate marketing. They certainly understand how people compare and research purchases online these days, as Gregoriadis noted.

Your Say Topic

The hotels were running at 25% occupancy. People like you are not doing anything good for Fiji. You sound like one of the Interim Ministers in the IG.

King of Kings (110 days and 14 hours ago) "I visited Fiji three times this year and stayed at the Sheraton,Westin,Tradewinds, and Tokatoka."

Hmm, have you considered village-stays? Or, maybe going the eco-tourism route?

This would be more beneficial to the people of Fiji as they would see direct benefit as a result of your stay.

Katalina Balawanilotu of The Greater Bay Area, CA (110 days and 13 hours ago) King of King must be out of her freakin mind ! To benefit the people is to do exactly that - stay in the hotels and pay accommodation and utilise the maid services, take meals there for the waitresses', busboys', cchefs, cooks, and kitchen help, not to mention the cashiers' and receptionists and reservations personell who, incidentally, are locals who live in those villages you alluded to.

Survey: Experts tell how to get the word out and bring business in

"Public relations" can encompass investor, employee and community relations. Many use it to mean media relations, or generating news stories. Having a third party talk about a company, service or product gains credibility. But there's no guarantee the message will get picked up and no control over what the media says. PR works best when the message is truly newsworthy.

Advertisements, on the other hand, transmit the message exactly how the advertiser wants it -- the advertiser has complete control. By paying for a spot, the advertiser ensures it is featured where it wants to be seen. A bigger news story won't bump it off the page or off the air.

Often, both can be used. Media relations and advertising support each other and achieve greater results when used in concert than they ever would on their own.
